Who doesn’t love Brunch buffets? With St. Patrick’s Day and Easter fast approaching, now is a fantastic time to get together with friends or loved ones and check out some of the city’s best Brunch buffet spots.
Henrietta’s Table. Henrietta’s Table in the Charles Hotel is arguably the best Sunday Brunch buffet in the area. Although a bit pricey at $39pp, the gastronomic experience is worth every penny. Boasting: a grilled veggie station, salad bar, raw bar, meat carving station, cheese & pate selection, salmon, made to order omelets, waffles, fresh fruit, unlimited fresh squeezed orange juice, and a myriad of other hot and cold entrees, Henrietta’s Table is often booked solid and thus requires prior reservations. If you go, make sure to save room for some of the best desserts on this side of the river. With any luck, the pumpkin cheesecake will be on the buffet. Call a few days ahead. Noon until 3pm. (617) 661 - 5005. www.henriettastable.com.
Soho. Soho in Brighton offers an American style Sunday Brunch buffet for $14.95pp. They do offer a salad bar and a carving station, however, the buffet is breakfast - food heavy, as it mainly offers: omelets, pancakes, muffins, sausage, and hash browns. Desserts include bread pudding, pies, chocolate mousse, and cookies. 10:30am - 3pm. 386 Market Street, Brighton. (617) 562 - 6000. www.sohoboston.com.
Tonic. Not too far from Soho, Tonic is easily accessible via the Green line (B), and similarly offers a breakfast - food heavy American style Sunday brunch buffet for $14.95pp (children $7.95). However, Tonic also houses a ‘build your own Bloody Mary’ bar, which features a variety of vodkas and juices. 10am - 3pm. 1316 Commonwealth Ave. (617) 566 - 6699. www.thetonicbar.com/boston.
Bob the Chef’s. For a soul-food brunch experience, visit Bob the Chef’s in the South End. For $18.95pp (children $13.95), you are faced with 24 southern-style specialties including: fried chicken, ribs, sweet potatoes, biscuits, mac & cheese, greens, and pecan pie. As a bonus, you eat amidst live jazz. Reservations required for parties of four or more. 10am - 2:30pm. (617) 536 - 6204. 6204 Columbus Ave. Orange (Mass Ave) or Green E (Symphony) line. www.bobthechefs.com
China Pearl. The China Pearl is a popular spot for Sunday Dim Sum. Don’t worry if there is a seemingly long line out the door, as the restaurant is quite large and the queue moves extremely fast. Dim Sum includes a myriad of dumplings, buns, and other steamed or fried snacks that are all carted to your table for ease of selection. The menu is a la carte, and orders usually come in quantities of two to four pieces. The contents of the dumplings is not always apparent, so if this is your first dim sum excursion, it is best to go with someone who is seasoned to the experience as they will know your tastes and can help make appropriate selections off the carts. (617) 426 - 4338. 9 Tyler Street. Chinatown. www.2nite.com/chinapearl.
